Helping Israeli Nonprofits Deliver Greater Benefits
The NGO Best Practices Clinic (NGOBPC) was established by Danny Oberman, Ofir Shaer CPA, and Smadar Kupietzky in 2015 to strengthen the professional management practices of Israeli NGOs.
A NEW SERVICE launched January 2018 as a result of the dramatic high court decision of July 2016.
New Service- A Donor Decision Tool- Due Diligence
As nonprofits in Israel play an increasingly vital role in addressing family cohesion, educational achievement, social inclusion, inequality, media accuracy, hunger, and other critical issues, they must be strategic, professional, and adaptive. We help a diverse array of nonprofits do their best work – to the benefit of the NGO staff, donors, board members and of course, the clients who directly rely on these crucial services.
The Essence of Our Work
NGO Best Practices Clinic works with Israeli NGOs with annual budgets between five hundred thousand and twenty million dollars. Within a short timeframe, we prepare a detailed report on the current status of the NGO in the following areas:
● Goal definition
● Organizational structure
● Cash Flow (cash reserves)
● Debt -Bank, suppliers, employees
● HR Practices
● Methodologies for quantifying results & measuring program success
● Status of reporting to the Israeli government authorities
● Donor Management & Fundraising
● Data Management
● PR & Social Media Strategy
● Board involvement
How We Do It
Action Items: The report we produce includes detailed action items for management to implement, in order to improve the professional operation of the NGO.
Guidance and Support: We provide hands-on guidance and support for the implementation of the action items.
Timeframe: As our NGO clients are often waiting for funding, which may be dependent on reporting, we aim to complete reports within two to three weeks. The timeframe includes both the research and writing of the report.
Drill Down: Upon request, we can review specific projects in order to report on operation and impact. Additional professionals may be added to our team depending on the specific field of expertise required, in order to evaluate the project.
Confidentiality: We respect the privacy of the donors, foundations, and NGOs we assist. We do not disclose their identities without explicit written permission. Occasionally, we add technology experts and organizational psychologists to our team who are also contractually bound by an NDA.
NEW FOR 2017: We are excited to announce a new member of our team! Karin Fleisch, a seasoned nonprofit consultant with particular expertise in grant writing and communications, has joined NGO BPC as a Senior Consultant. Karin has secured more than $17 million for NGOs across Israel and the United States. If your organization needs support in any aspect of fundraising, get in touch.
Our Blog: Our blog provides quick, user-friendly advice on the practical and often difficult issues that professional leadership and board members must address. The following are a few of our recent postings:
